Market Wagon: Fresh to Your Door

Too Good Not to Share*

This week’s Too Good Not to Share is not a product but a service. Market Wagon started its online Farmer’s Market in 2016 in Indianapolis. A couple of years ago, I discovered it had expanded to the Louisville area with delivery to my address. Now, it has service in at least 10 states, divided into 24 regions, including, in part, Atlanta, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chattanooga, Nashville, Columbus, DC, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and more.

The vendors available to shop online are many of the same vendors that would be at the local farmers market – plus some that are from a little farther away. And delivery is a flat  $7.95, no matter the order size. As a bonus, it is not a subscription service, though it is possible to buy a Wagon Pass, which could lower the delivery fee for people who order regularly.

Market Wagon is a convenience, not only for shoppers but also for vendors. For the Louisville area, I build my order on their convenient app (it’s also possible to order online) before midnight on a Tuesday night. The vendors meet at a staging area in Louisville that Thursday morning and sort their pre-ordered products into the correct people’s orders. Usually, by noon, the orders are ready to be sent out for front-door delivery, arriving well-packed in a thermal tote with a reusable ice pack inside. (For future orders, customers are asked to set the empty totes with ice packs out to be collected and used again.)

I receive text alerts when an order is on its way and once it’s delivered, so if I’m not home when the order arrives, I can get there or have someone put it in for me if it’s in danger of sitting out too long. Products available are all the typical farmers market fare. My favorites are local cheeses, meat fresh from the farm, veggies, and a couple of ready-to-heat soups.

The selection, convenience, and value are amazing. I can’t recommend enough that you check availability for your area. Go to marketwagon.com and enter your zip code. If they serve your area, you can browse without creating an account. You can thank me later.

*Too Good Not to Share posts are just because I love to share things that have made a difference in my life, hoping they may make a difference in someone else’s. I am not compensated in any way, nor do I guarantee that others will have the same positive experience with these products.
