I wrote poem below several years ago about my faith journey at the time. Not only is it still relevant to my faith journey, but to many other aspects of my life’s journey, as well. Specifically, right now, this poem speaks to my journey as a parent of young adults who are finding their own way in their own way. This makes me highly uncomfortable and it’s a constant battle deciding whether and to what degree to step in. Actually, it’s a constant battle because I know it’s best for all parties if I do not step in — and that’s the hard part. So here is the poem I wrote a few years ago, that speaks to the internal struggles that we all face in some area of our lives.
Progress
Screeching
lurching
careening wildly
side to side
on the road
of my faith journey.
My right foot accelerating
eager, excited, hungry
to know more, more,
everything.
My left foot braking, hard.
Scared. Overwhelmed. Unworthy
to know anything.
Clouds of dust
Alternate with skid marks in my wake
marking fitful progress
on the road of my faith journey.

Great poem… thank you.
