View from My Window

Too Good Not to Share*

View from my window by Susan Fischbach Isaacs.

My goal on these Tuesdays of late is to share something to mitigate the stress/boredom/anxiety/whatever-you-might-be-feeling-while-folks-around-the-world-have-gone-practically-dormant, and to also have it be something that costs nothing but a few minutes of your time. Today’s Too Good Not to Share comes from a friend who recommended the Facebook group “View from my window,” and now I pass her recommendation on to you.

According to the About section, “View from my window” was “created to connect people from all around the world during these tough times.” The premise is that we each see the same thing out our window every day, but if we share that view we can all get a glimpse of the daily lives of others.

There are a few rules, the most interesting of which is that you only get to post one picture in the group — ever. With 693K members already (the group started on March 22, 2020), there are plenty of gorgeous glimpses of intriguing places to help carry you away for a few minutes from the stagnant picture out your own window. Some contributors say something about their photo they posted or about what’s going on in their lives that they have such a view from their window, but it’s not required. What makes the group so absolutely refreshing is that it is free from debate. Any comments are usually comprised of compliments or greetings from various parts of the world. What’s more fun than that?

So, if you’re looking for a way to get away while staying home, take in the View from my window.

*Too Good Not to Share posts are just because I love to share things that have made a difference in my life, with the hope they may make a difference in someone else’s. I am not compensated in any way, nor do I guarantee that others will have the same positive experience with these products.
